Fritz Massong GmbH since 1921

Fritz Massong GmbH’s history started in 1921. Fritz Massong, the grandfather of the current senior partner and general manager Dieter Massong started his own business with the sales of dry powder fire extinguishers which had just been invented at that time. When his son, Erwin Massong, joined the company in 1948, Fritz Massong GmbH expanded to be one of the leading local suppliers for fire extinguishers and fire fighting equipment.When Erwin Massong suddenly passed away in 1960 he left a big gap which could only be closed step by step: His widow, Dr. Wilhelmine Massong, who was not familiar with this branch of trade before, courageously took over the management of the company. Mr. Günter Russ successfully took over responsibility and with the assistance of Mr. Gerhard Lutz ran the company together with her. The company was expanding quickly. New markets for breathing protection technologies, fire alarm systems and fire suppression systems were opened up. The Frankenthal premises were amended by office, storage and shop buildings.

After Günter Russ’s death, Dieter Massong, Fritz Massong’s grandson took over the business management in 1993. The company grew to have 80 employees. The acquisition of Michael Schmidt mobile Kommunikation GmbH enabled Massong to enter the market for radio technology and construction of command and communication vehicles.

With expertise, individuality and customer proximity Massong was able to establish for their customers a complex and unparalleled range of products and services since foundation of the company almost 90 years ago.

In April 2008 Thomas Götz was appointed a further general manager and took over the company’s “fire fighting” branch. The “fire protection” branch is ran by Dieter Massong.
